Making bread properly takes a long time! Mixing of flour and water, allowing the dough to rise while fermentation takes place, prodding, stretching and shaping the dough all have to happen before the actual baking. This means ten times more effort for us (it would be a lot easier to get deliveries from factories or bake-off frozen bread) but it also means that our bread tastes ten times better than anybody else’s… after all, you are buying one of the oldest and most basic foods there is, it wasn’t necessary to add chemicals to bread for centuries and it still isn’t!
